About Orchard Park Co-operative Preschool
The Orchard Park Co-operative Preschool has been offering high quality education for generations of children in our community. The cornerstone of our school is providing young children with a wealth of academic, physical, and social learning experiences that are appropriate for their stage of development. Because so much of a young child’s knowledge is acquired through exploration and play, our program emphasizes interesting activities that promote learning, curiosity, and self-confidence. Our students enter kindergarten with an eagerness to learn as well as a sound understanding of emerging math and reading skills.
All of our teachers are experienced early childhood specialists with bachelor and master degrees. They bring to the Co-op high expectations for student growth within a culture of respect and nurturing. Every day is planned to provide the children with opportunities to practice sharing and caring, learn about the world around them, develop reading and math skills, and express themselves through the joys of art and music.
Our Classrooms & Facility
Each classroom is arranged in learning centers which allow students to move from building in the block corner to drawing and labeling pictures at the writing center to sharing kitchen duties in the imaginary play area. We have a newly built playground with equipment designed for especially for 3-5 year olds, a space for riding bikes and scooters, a snow hill area in the winter months, and an outsized gym for those rainy or frigid days when outdoor play is not possible.
Located in the heart of Orchard Park, the Co-op has been committed to providing young children with a developmentally appropriate education since its founding in 1950. Our school is a collaboration between parents and teachers with parents serving on the board of directors as well as participating in the classroom as much as they choose.
