Mrs. Stephen’s Newsletter: October 3, 2018

We have been very busy beavers practicing the rules, making friends and learning new things! Your children are great!

We have reviewed shapes: practiced cutting shapes, made circle prints with cups, glued squares together, made a shape friendship flower, stamped shapes, made a shape scarecrow, read shape stories, sorted shapes and found shapes in the room.

We are practicing our cutting skills in many ways. We are using many fine motor activities to strengthen our muscles. To help your child print their names at home you can use dots to make the letters and let them trace. Have them work with playdough and other small motor items to improve their hand muscles.

We have begun introducing the letters and numerals and have completed A and B, 1,2 and 3. We do various activities each day to help learn and review.

Apples were part of our classroom last week as we learned about the different kinds, how they taste, and grow and what the trees look like in each season. Creating apple crafts was fun!

Our nature walk saw some beautiful weather! We have learned many things about nature creating squirrels and acorns and making grape jelly. I hope you enjoyed it at home!

Show and Tell began this week. Please check the inside of your child’s folder to remember the day your child brings in an item. This will be a weekly event on their day. The first two weeks will be child’s choice. This is a beneficial activity for their language skills.

If you have not yet sent in a family photo for our bulletin board display, please do!

Please do not allow your child to press any of the buttons outside the security door. (Especially the wheel chair button). We don’t want the buttons to get worn out! Thanks!
